Donna Texas Connects With Rio Bravo 01/30/2012
The Alliance International Bridge - from Donna Texas to Rio Bravo - provides the fastest route from the interior of Mexico going to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. The bridge is located around 10 miles East of the Pharr International Bridge and around 10 miles West of the Progresso International Bridge. The Alliance International Bridge makes Rio Grande Valley attractions very accessible, including shopping hubs and airports. Using the bridge will allow travelers from Mexico to bypass the congested areas of Matamoros and Reynosa in Mexico, thus allowing faster travel by about an hour. Many multi-national corporations will also be accessible as the Mcallen Foreign Trade Zone is only 20 minutes to the west, while the Edinburg Foreign Trade Zone is only 35 minutes to the north. On its inauguration on December 14, 2010, officials led by U.S. Congressman Ruben Hinojosa gathered on the American side of the Donna-Rio Bravo International Bridge while Mexican President Felipe Calderon held a separate opening ceremony on the Mexican side of the bridge.
